Meals that have high glycemic levels are responsible for a higher insulin output which would then store more glycogen and fat. As a matter of fact, meals that contain high glycemic levels will cause the blood glucose to raise two times higher than a low glycemic meal even when both meals have the same amount of calories. High glycemic meals are less filling, lead to feelings of hunger sooner or increased meal size as opposed to low glycemic meals.
Some studies have revealed that children who eat a high glycemic breakfast consumed more calories before dinner than children eating a low glycemic meal. There is always more weight loss on low glycemic diets than high glycemic diets of the same calories.
To increase low glycemic foods in your diet, increase consumption of fruits, vegetables and legumes. Choose pasta, stone ground breads and old-fashioned oatmeal, over potatoes and instant rice. The less processing a food has, the more fiber it retains and the lower its glycemic rating too.
Did you know that rice cakes are high glycemic? Don’t be fooled by supposed “diet food”. Check the ingredients. There is always a lower glycemic alternative. For example, when choosing fruits, oranges, apples and cherries are lower on the glycemic index than watermelon or bananas. An easy rule of thumb to remember is high fiber, natural foods are better for your health.
If you are on a low glycemic diet whether it is for health purposes or to monitor your blood sugar, there are plenty of recipes available that are made with the glycemic index as the guide. Adding fat, fiber and protein slows the absorption of carbohydrates, helping to control your insulin response. Portion size matters no matter what they tell you. If you eat too much food at one sitting you will have an insulin surge, which is not good. Think of a low glycemic diet as a slow burning fire. When you consume a low glycemic diet, your body will release glucose very slowly. Your body gets glucose at a nice, slow rate and runs smoothly. This is what you what.
There are many reasons why people opt for a low glycemic diet. Perhaps you’re struggling to lose weight. Perhaps you have type 2 diabetes or have been told by your doctor that you are pre-diabetic. Maybe you would like to lose a few pounds and would like to have access to tasty recipes that won’t spike your blood sugar. Maybe you just simply wish to change your diet to include healthier foods.
There are many benefits to eating low glycemic recipes. Don’t let the thought of taste deter you. People have been researching this method of food preparation for a long while. You can find an unlimited number of recipes for all occasions that taste great.

Bananas and applesauce add the perfect amount of thick moisture like eggs. Smash up or blend about a half a ripe banana or 1/4 cup applesauce to use as an egg replacer in baked goods such as muffins, pancakes or yeast-free quick breads, such as pumpkin bread, and of course, banana bread. Since bananas and applesauce won’t help your dishes rise or turn out light and fluffy, be sure to use a bit of baking powder or baking soda to help it rise if needed. Here is a recipe for a good, egg-free breakfast.
Egg Free French Toast Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
· 2-3 ripe bananas
· 3/4 cup soy milk
· 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
· 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (optional)
· 1 teaspoon vanilla
· bread, any kind is fine
· butter or margarine
PREPARATION:
Blend bananas, soy milk, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla in blender or food processor and pour mixture into pie plate or wide dish. Gently dip bread slices into the mix, coating both sides. Fry in butter or margarine in medium-hot skillet until golden brown. Serve with a bit of butter and syrup or powdered sugar and fruit preserves for a yummy treat around Christmas.
Eating should not be boring for people with food allergies. It takes a lot of creativity and resourcefulness so that a person with food allergies can eat the foods that they want using different food substitutes. It can be done but it just takes some beforehand time and preparation to make delicious treats that will not affect the person who is allergy prone. Additional allergy recipes may be found in Food Allergies: Causes and Alternative Recipes - Part 2.

A healthy diet is crucial to the detoxification process. It can be achieved by abstaining from animal products, sugar, alcohol and fat, and replacing them by organic fruits, nuts, wheats and vegetables.
An excellent way to kick off the detoxification process every morning, while giving your body all the nutrition it needs, is Dr. Kousmine’s breakfast.
Doctor Catherine Kousmine (1904-1992), has devoted her life to medical research in Switzerland with special interest in the effects of food on overall health, and cancer and disease prevention.
The diet she recommends is rich in cereals, raw food and essential fatty acids, and has thousands of faithful health-conscious followers around the world.
The highlight of Dr Kousmine’s diet is her power breakfast –the infamous Kousmine cream- based on a mixture of ingredients that she developed with the German doctor Johanna Budwig.
Dr Budwig (born in Germany in 1908- 2003) has been referred to as a top European Cancer Research Scientist, Biochemist, German Pharmacologist, and Physicist. She was a seven-time Nobel Prize nominee. She is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on fats and oils. Her research has shown the negative effects that commercially processed fats and oils have on destroying cells, and their food-processing function in the body, resulting in chronic or terminal disease.
Her research shows that the commercial processing of fats destroys the field of electrons that allow the cell membranes in our bodies to function properly. Without the proper metabolism of fats, every vital function and every organ is affected. This includes new cell regeneration, and the elimination of waste and toxins, which triggers various chronic diseases.
Not only is Dr Kousmine breakfast recipe delicious and highly nutritious, but it also enables your body to kick start the detoxification process upon rising.
Kousmine-Budwig breakfast recipe
- 4 tablespoons low fat cottage cheese (or yoghurt)
- 2 tablespoons organic flaxseed or organic sunflower oil
Mix the cottage cheese and the flaxseed oil in a bowl with a fork, until you obtain a rich, white and creamy blend.
Add to this mixture
- 1 small ripe banana (or 2 tsp honey)
- ½ lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons freshly ground flaxseeds or 6 almonds, 6 hazelnuts, or any other type of nuts, excluding peanuts
- 2 tablespoons fresh whole-wheat rice, millet, buckwheat, oats (not oatmeal)
- 1 portion of seasonal fresh fruit. (strawberries, raspberries, cherries, grapes, apple etc..)
Grind the nuts, or flaxseed and the cereals. Crush the banana with a fork. Add all the ingredients to the cottage cheese and mix well.
A part from being a rich source of calcium, iron & zinc, this breakfast is rich in linolenic acid (healthy fats) and provides substantial levels of vitamins and minerals. The combination of these ingredients is what makes this recipe particularly efficient.
Dr Kousmine diet is based on 5 principles amongst them a healthy diet and a healthy colon. She recommended intestinal cleanses, including ****** and colon cleansing.
France Guillain, who wrote 2 books on the Detox Bath method, particularly recommends combining the Kousmine breakfast with the Detox Bath for a highly effective natural daily detox. The ‘good fats’, contained in this breakfast act as the vehicle which -aided by the the Detox Bath- transports the ‘bad fats’ into the intestines for elimination. This breakfast will boost the action of the Detox Bath and increase its effectiveness.
The Detox Bath is based on an ancestral detox and healing technique which has been proven to encourage toxin, waste and fat elimination. It’s working principle is to refresh the core area of the body (groin) during 10 minutes daily on average. This process creates a vibration in the fascia (interconnecting tissue covering all internal organs), which sets in motion a roll-back effect transporting waste, fat and deposited toxins back to the intestines, where they are later eliminated. The benefits of this simple technique are numerous and include:
Toxin, fat and cellulite elimination
Improved digestion and natural constipation relief
Improved natural restful sleep,
Mood and energy boost
Clear skin and radiant complexion.

by Lawrence Kirkland
The noni tree originates in the south pacific, most likely Hawaii, growing in the back lava soil left behind by the Island’s many volcanoes. It can grow up to 30 feet tall, and is related to the coffee tree, being in the Rubiaceae family. It will also grow in shady forests, sandy and rocky shores, saline soils, secondary soils, and limestone outcrops. It is however more common and grows better in the lava soil beds. Today it grows in Tahiti, French Polynesia, Southeast Asia, all of the Pacific Islands, and even in the Dominican Republic.
The Noni tree has many names including Morinda Citrifolia, great morinda, Indian mulberry, mengkudu, and beach mulberry. This tree produces flowers and fruits all year long. The fruit is known as Cheese fruit because of the smell it produces when it is ripening. The fruit is white with a tough skin that looks like a cross between a pineapple and a gourd. It really isn’t a pretty fruit and if you didn’t know what it was you would probably be very skeptical about eating it. The fruit has many seeds inside, and is nicknamed starvation fruit because it tastes pretty bad by itself too. Admittedly, Noni is more popular for its juice than for its fruit.
The juice form of this fruit is the most popular. It mixes well with other fruits for a better taste. The fruit itself is full of a lot of seeds and hard to eat, despite having several good vitamins including calcium, Vitamin C, Iron, and Vitamin A. The powdered form of noni has high levels of dietary fiber and carbohydrates. It also contains enough fatty acids, flavanoids, indoids, phytoestrogens, and polysaccharides to be considered one of the healthiest fruits around.
Noni also has trace amounts of beta-sitosterol which is an anti-cholesterol agent. The fruit, leaves, and bark are all used in many health food manufacturers and countries for herbal and natural healing remedies. In China, Samoa, Japan and Tahiti, they use the flowers, fruit, bark, leaves, and roots for herbal remedies that treat or cure fever, eye problems, skin ailments, throat gum maladies, bowel and intestine problems and respiratory malfunctions.
The Malaysians make poultices from the leaves of the Noni Plant to aid in the relief of coughing, nausea, general colds and respiratory ailments. Indochinese make poultices for broken bones and sprains to relieve the pain. They also insist that parts of the plant help in lumbago and asthma.
In Ancient times, tribes carried this fruit with them whenever they went on long voyages or journeys because of its healthful properties. It was given the name of the Queen Fruit because of its attributes. It was also called the ‘canoe fruit,’ because they carried it in their canoes everywhere they went.

Are you the kind of guy who works hard all week to earn his money, only to spend it all at the supplement store? Why not save the money for a rainy day and focus on improving your training and nutrition? As much as you may not want to hear it, supplements are not going to replace the fundamentals of muscle building.
And believe it or not, you can build significant amounts of muscle without any supplements at all. Even protein shakes are not really necessary, although they can be convenient when it’s difficult to consume the right amount of protein or calories.
If you’ve spent any time shopping for supplements, you have probably been amazed at some of the prices. You’ll see stacks of protein bars and tubs of who knows what selling at a premium. The supplements look so convincing, with their pictures of huge bodybuilders guaranteeing your success.
Expert trainer Vince Delmonte tells us that nutritional supplements make very little difference in a muscle building program.
He explained that the core of your results will come from your weightlifting exercises, your nutrition, and your recovery methods. Only when all of these fundamentals are in place should you even consider spending money on supplements. Even then, you may only see a slight boost in your performance. Chances are you’ll notice anything at all.
If you simply focus on mastering the basics, you’ll make more progress and save yourself some money in the process.
Much of the confusion about muscle building, and about most other goals in life, comes from a failure to recognize the basics. We’re always looking for shortcuts or a magic bullet, because we’re not willing to put in the work. Or, we simply don’t believe that the fundamentals aren’t good enough to give us the results we want.
The truth is that building muscle, like many things in life, is actually fairly straightforward. It requires effort, but the fundamental principles are not that complex. What is needed is a self discipline and persistence, which requires much more effort (and is much more rewarding) than popping a few pills or drinking some special powder. Only when you’ve mastered the basics and truly disciplined yourself should you even consider adding supplements.

The best diet recipes are those that are quick and painless. And painless recipes are very good indeed.
And there are all sorts of recipes in the world that are quick, but are they good for dieting? I have some suggestions for quick recipes for dieting, many from my own experience.
It’s best to start with breakfast because breakfast is renowned for being the most important meal of the day: Providing 30% of the body’s energy for the day.
When I was dieting, my breakfast meal consisted of the following:
Eggbeater omelet with various vegetables
Fruit sides
Skim milk
It’s not much but it’s certainly quick. An omelet only takes about 5 minutes to cook up, chop an onion or green pepper, toss them in, and you have a fantastic breakfast. I usually would have fruit on the side, like grapes or a cut up apple. Just to have a little more to fill me.
And you can’t go wrong with skim milk over conventional.
I remember my lunch meal to be a bit different but still pretty quick.
Grilled chicken, no seasoning or marinade (as much as I wanted it)
Brown rice
Water
The best thing about this dish, albeit it’s small, is that it’s incredibly simple. Anybody can grill chicken and I’d use my George Foreman grill to accomplish the feat. The rice takes about 5 minutes to cook, and water as a drink is always a solid choice when cutting calories.
Let’s not forget though, the importance of protein. And when I was dieting I always like to make myself a protein shake. For a lot of dieters this could be the best, quickest thing for them. After all, you simple toss stuff into a blender and turn it on.
A typical protein shake for me is similar to this:
Skim milk
Whey protein
Ice
Strawberries, bananas, and any other fruit you like
Not a whole lot to it, and it takes no more than five minutes!
I’ll leave dinner up to the consumer, as they are probably the most difficult meals to produce. Generally speaking though, sticking to a dinner with steamed veggies, lean meat like fish, or grains like rice are a good idea.
Personally, I’d make mostly whatever I had for lunch for dinner again.
A great idea though is to portion your food, no matter what the recipe is. This way you’ll never eat too much because the calories will always be small.
In the end, as far as quick recipes go, sticking everything in the blender is probably the best choice.
